Word Order
Unlike English, German follows a position-based word order.
The finite (conjugated) verb is usually in Position 2 in a main clause.

The finite (conjugated) verb always occupies Position 2 in a main clause (Hauptsatz).
Golden Rule: In a main clause, the finite verb never leaves Position 2, regardless of what comes first (subject, time, place, object, or an adverbial phrase).

4. Verb Bracket :: Satzklammer
Many German verb forms consist of two parts.
The finite verb stays in Position 2, while the second verb part moves to the end of the sentence.
This creates a Verb Bracket (Satzklammer) that encloses the rest of the sentence.
Formula
The finite verb opens the sentence, and the second verb part closes it. Everything else fits between these two parts, forming the Verb Bracket (Satzklammer).
